SNOW DAY! Take Advantage of Them In Honor of Those Who Can’t

Snow

Many children across Southeastern Pennsylvania are enjoying their first snow day of the season. I remember how great snow days were when I was a kid. We’d play tackle football, go sledding, and then top it off with some hot tomato soup and sandwiches.

I’ve had a hard time finding a good sledding hill near my house but this year I think I’m going to do some extra research. It’s been too long since I’ve “hit the slopes” with my plastic toboggan and reached Mach 5 before wiping out.

As much fun as this day could potentially be, I am reminded of the days when I worked in banking and we still had to go to work unless a state of emergency was declared. One morning it took me 2 hours to get to work, all because one or two idiots hadn’t heard of direct deposit even though it was 2010, and the bank needed to remain open to accommodate them. I do not miss those days at all, of course I still do some work even though my family has the day off, but I get to stay indoors.

I pray for those of you who work in an industry that requires you to be at work regardless of how bad the weather is. I know a number of doctors, nurses, and other civil servants who risk their own lives on the roads in order to potentially save the lives of others. May God bless you and keep you safe today.

When you build that snowman today, enjoy every minute of it on behalf of those who are still working to make this world a safer and better place.

PS: Thanks to all of the bank employees who go to work even though they shouldn’t have to in this technology-driven age we live in.
