So after doing some more research, and watching my leg change shape, I decided to book a doctor’s appointment. The good news is my doctor doesn’t think there is anything wrong structurally with my knee (ligaments, tendons, etc.). However based on my symptoms and upon his inspection, I may have a tear in my quadricep, just above my knee, which is causing the extra strain on the knee joint and thus the instability I have been experiencing.
So I got an X-ray (a formality) and will most likely get an MRI to determine how significant of an injury it is. But until then the doctor prescribed an anti-inflammatory and a muscle relaxer. This is in additional to my allergy medicine and acid reflux medicine that I take on a daily basis. Needless to say, my wife struck it rich when she married this lemon. I may need to get one of those nifty pill boxes to separate all of my prescriptions.
In the meantime, I am very happy that it is not an ACL or MCL injury, and as long as I don’t overdo it, I should be able to proceed with business as usual. Praise God!
